“I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and a test is done!” Eddie Murphy breaks Mel B’s heart.

At a time when both were among the biggest global stars, the paths of the actor and the singer crossed, leading to a few months of passionate romance followed by a painful struggle.

The British pop group Spice Girls was the most popular female music group of the nineties and absolutely dominated the latter half of that decade. Although Victoria Beckham, then Adams, was the absolute favorite, Melanie Brown, known as Mel B, was a close second.

She was the first member of the Spice Girls to get married, but she did not neglect her career. However, her marriage to Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar, with whom she had a daughter Phoenix in 1999, did not last and they divorced in 2000.

After the group disbanded, Melanie moved to Los Angeles in 2003 with her daughter, where she starred in the film “The Seat Filler” alongside Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child, and it was co-produced by Will Smith.

Her love affair with Eddie Murphy ended painfully

She remained in America, and then in 2006, she began a relationship with movie superstar Eddie Murphy. Reportedly, it was love at first sight, and the couple had a passionate relationship, with the singer moving into the actor’s villa and being chauffeured around Los Angeles by his driver.

He insisted she use his credit card, which she refused, as she later recounted. They waited six weeks to become intimate, but then stayed hardly out of bed.

When it happened, it wasn’t just sex. It was like poetry, every touch, every kiss, every sense… out of this world,” Mel B described. “We were obsessed with each other.”

This famous couple got engaged very quickly, but then — they split up. By December of the same year, Mel B and Eddie Murphy were no longer together. Soon after, it was announced that the singer was pregnant and that he was the father of her child.

Sadly, Eddie Murphy wanted nothing to do with them. When journalists asked him about Melanie’s pregnancy, he commented:

“We’re not together anymore. I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and a test is done. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”

In April 2007, Melanie gave birth to a daughter, Angel Iris. The actor did not voluntarily undergo paternity testing; instead, he was compelled by a court several months later. DNA testing confirmed that he was indeed the biological father of baby Angel.

Eddie acknowledged his paternity and stated that he and Mel had reached a settlement of seven million dollars.

She was surprised when Eddie Murphy invited her to the premiere of his movie about Shrek. As she pointed out, she did not expect him to re-enter their lives after three and a half years.

“I think that happened because I fought so hard for justice right from the start of my pregnancy,” said the tearful singer.
