Rebel Wilson: ‘I Lost My Virginity at 35 (and That’s Okay)’

The Australian comedian wrote about it in her memoir Rebel Rising, to revisit the pivotal moments of her life – in her words – she was offered money hand over fist to continue gaining weight and playing roles as the overweight girl.

From Will Smith to Prince Harry, it seems like everyone’s writing a memoir these days. Typically, it coincides with a period of either little work or a desire for more. People delve into salacious stories to fuel their promotional tour on talk shows and return to the spotlight. Rebel Wilson is no exception: she’s penned her autobiography, “Rebel Rising” (set to release on April 2 in America), and gradually drops some juicy statements to make it more intriguing.

In the past, the 44-year-old Australian comedian accused Hollywood of pushing her to gain weight because there are few plus-size actresses for the comedic roles, and they needed her to gain weight. However, in this process, she seemingly forgot to mention that she became one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. And now? She comes out with the declaration: “I lost my virginity at 35.” Whether it was necessary or not, or whether this confession helps her or not, it doesn’t matter much, but it’s clear that the actress is gradually selling off her privacy.

But let’s return to the topic of her first time: “I said it to reassure the guys, as not everyone loses their virginity as teenagers. People can wait until they feel ready or take time until they feel a bit more mature. I think this could be a positive message. Obviously, it’s not necessary to wait until you’re thirty like me, but you shouldn’t feel any pressure. If I were born 20 years later, I probably would have explored my sexuality more, realized I’m attracted to both men and women. I would have understood myself more, as happened after my father’s death.”
