Cameron Diaz becomes a mother for the second time: ‘Her son Cardinal’ is now born.”

“An adorable drawing and a sweet message were used by Cameron Diaz, 51, and her husband Benji Madden, 45, to announce the birth of their second child together. They said, ‘We are lucky and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden. He’s fantastic, and we’re all so happy he’s here! For his safety and privacy, we won’t be sharing any photos, but he’s truly beautiful. We feel so fortunate and grateful.’

Just like they did with the pregnancy of their first daughter, Raddix, born four years ago in December 2019, Cameron Diaz and Madden, married since 2015, have chosen to keep a low-profile and stay as private as possible this time too. Back in August 2017, Benji, through social media, described himself as a very lucky man to have Cameron by his side, and she reciprocated in an interview with People magazine:

‘He’s my partner in life, and that’s all. I’ve never had anyone support me so much.’ In a subsequent interview, Cameron Diaz reiterated the happiness she found in marriage: ‘Marriage has been the best thing that ever happened to me. My husband is the most amazing human being. He’s an incredible partner, and I’m truly grateful to him. I don’t know if I was ready when I got married, but I knew Benji was special.’

Meeting Madden prompted Cameron Diaz to reconsider her priorities in life, as she shared with Instyle magazine: ‘I’ve given the public more than half of my life, and now it’s time for me to take some time for myself and reorganize.’ In this new phase, Cameron Diaz has also embraced motherhood, especially after the birth of her first daughter Raddix. In an episode of the GOOP podcast, she confessed how becoming a mother completely changed her perception of age and years.

‘The whole concept of aging has completely changed, it’s open. I’m excited. I’m missing 50 or 60 years: I want to live until I’m 110, since I have a young child. Around the age of 40, you have this fantastic moment where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with her, be there when she’s 40 years old.'”
