“The story of Coco, the city dog who transforms when he goes at the ‘grandparents’

Coco is the quintessential city dog: he loves being around people, enjoys playing with other dogs at the pet daycare, and likes traveling by car and train. However, what nobody knew about this Poodle mix was his rural side: taking him to the countryside to his “grandparents,” the dog revealed a side that was even unknown to his owners.

It all began when Coco’s owner, Alexis Pepillo, left the puppy at her parents’ home in the Colombian countryside before leaving town for a commitment. Pepillo’s parents promised to send her daily updates on her beloved pet and assured her that he would have a great time. But she had no idea what her parents had planned for her fluffy, all-white pet.

“I just received the following message from my mom: ‘Hello!!! Today was a very adventurous day for Coco. He went horseback riding and swam in the river,’” wrote Pepillo on X (@Alexispepillo). The first photo showed Coco perched in a traditional Colombian bag, ready to take in the scenery while hanging from his grandmother’s shoulder. The following images reveal a shocking turn of events.

But what surely caught her owner’s attention was that her usually clean and white dog was unrecognizable by the end of the day: his body was completely covered in mud, looking literally like a different dog. But while Alexis was still in shock from that photo, her mother sent her more pictures detailing each stage of their muddy excursion. From horseback rides to river walks, the fun-loving pup had a great time in nature.

Since then, Coco has had many adventures, but none compare to the day spent with his grandparents where he had the complete freedom to get his paws dirty and fully explore the world around him without anyone telling him what to do. And he certainly can’t wait for his next playdate with his “grandparents,” provided his owner lets him go again.
