This is going to hurt… Bruce Dickinson: “I Would Never Pay $1200 to See U2, Max $100”

The leader of Iron Maiden has spoken out about expensive tickets: “The cheapest seats should be those under the stage where the real fans are.” And about Bono’s band: “For them, I could give a maximum of $100.”

“The leader of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson, shared his thoughts on expensive concert tickets, stating, ‘I have no interest in paying $1200 to go hear U2 at the Sphere, none at all. At most, I could pay $100.’ In an interview with the Mexican magazine ATMósferas Magazine, Dickinson addressed the issue of high ticket prices impacting the industry.

When asked if the high price of tickets was having a negative impact, Dickinson responded, ‘It depends on the show you’re doing and the audience you have. I won’t name names because there are now many artists asking for $1200 for a ticket, like in Las Vegas for the U2 show. I believe it was $1200 for a seat at the Sphere. I have no interest in paying $1200 to go hear U2 at the Sphere, none at all. At most, I could pay $100.’

Dickinson continued, ‘For me, it’s important to try to keep certain types of tickets at the right price. Let me explain: everyone says that tickets in front of the stage should cost more. But no, they should be the cheapest because the true fans, the kids, the people who can’t spend large sums, want to go there. They are the ones who need to be catered to, the ones who keep the music alive.’

‘I understand how promoters try not to lose money, and promoters are part of the ecosystem of this industry. Without promoters, there would be no concerts. It’s a delicate balance, for sure, but ticket prices are still too high, certain figures are crazy.'”
